Aesthetic Medicine

Our experienced physicians offer modern and scientifically based treatments to help you and your skin look younger and better. Among our treatments you will find microneedling, peeling, wrinkle treatments, hair removal and skin rejuvenation.

Depending on the location we offer the following services:

Wrinkle treatment

Botulinum toxin
We use Botulinum toxin to treat facial wrinkles. After injection with a thin needle into a muscle, Botulinum toxin works by causing the muscle to relax and smoothing the skin attached to it. The result is much younger looking skin.

Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide produced by the body, and a natural component of our skin. It binds water to the skin, thus increasing volume and firmness. We have had excellent results with sterile, non animal-based hyaluronic acid, which causes little or no allergic reactions. This treatment is especially suited to filling deep, persistent wrinkles and scars. The wrinkles are smoothed as a result, restoring the skin volume lost during aging. Hyaluronic acid is also used to treat contour defects and as a lip filler.

Hair removal

Hair removal with intense pulsed light (IPL)
IPL is an ultra modern light-based therapy which has been used successfully for many years to remove unwanted hair. The process works by means of high-intensity pulses of filtered light which are absorbed by the pigment melanin in the roots of the hair. This heats the root to the point where the hair cannot grow anymore, without damaging neighboring tissue.

Skin rejuvenation

Intense Pulsed Light for skin rejuvenation
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is being used to make skin look younger in a process known as “photo-skin rejuvenation”. This is a non-invasive procedure to improve the structure, quality, color and overall health of the skin. Conditions which can be treated include: vascular lesions, redness of the skin, age spots, freckles, and discoloration. The wavelengths used in IPL stimulate the growth of collagen under the skin, making it tauter and reducing the size of the pores. Treatment is particularly recommended for face, neck, décolleté and hands.

Please note that, except under exceptional circumstances, aesthetic consultations and treatments are not covered by the swiss medical insurance. After an initial examination and discussion with the dermatologist, you will receive a cost estimate for the treatment.

Micro Needling

During the microneedling treatment the skin is treated with a roller with very fine, short needles. The length of the needles is variable and is selected by the dermatologist based on sensitivity, skin thickness and the indication for treatment

When penetrating into the uppermost skin layer, the epidermis, certain skin receptors are irritated – thereby causing a small injury. In order to “repair” the skin, more collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid are released. These are essential for the elasticity and strength of our connective tissue. Through this, the natural, bodyspecific mechanisms for skin regeneration are activated.

Please ask our dermatologists for more information. The treatment is not covered by the Swiss insurance.

Peeling

What is Peeling?
We differentiate between two kinds of peelings: surface peeling with glycolic acid (fruit-acid peelings) and mid-depth peelings with Jessner’s solution and TCA (trichloracetic acid), the so-called “Monheit peel”. Excellent results can be obtained with surface peelings, which is why recommend these in particular.

Please note that, except under exceptional circumstances, aesthetic consultations and treatments are not covered by the swiss medical insurance. After an initial examination and discussion with the dermatologist, you will receive a cost estimate for the treatment.

Tattoo removal

How does laser tattoo removal work?
The laser used for the light therapy treatment bombards the color pigments of the tattoo enclosed in the skin with extremely short and high-energy, bundled light impulses. The light pulse with its different wavelength ranges is specially adjusted for the tattoo ink to be removed so that the color pigment absorbs the light and is broken up. After the treatment, the color pigment is identified as a foreign body by the immune system, absorbed by white blood cells and then transported away via the lymphatic system or excreted by the body. In this process, the unloaded skin cells and the surrounding tissue remain intact.

Which tattoo colors can be removed?
Basically, the rule is: The darker the tattoo color, the better it can be removed. Dark color has a better absorption behavior of the laser beam, which breaks up the individual color pigments into the smallest parts. These are then broken down by the body. Depending on the color, different laser systems with different wavelengths are used for an optimal result.

Treatment duration
The effective length of treatment and number of sessions depend on the size of the tattoo, color, color density, depth, skin type and age of the tattoo. Several sessions are necessary. Between the appointments, the affected area of the skin needs time to regenerate and so there should be at least 4 weeks between treatments. A final result may normally be expected within 4 to 12 sessions. This means that the duration of treatment can extend over a period of four to about twelve months.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)

What is PRP?
PRP is an innovative, minimally invasive treatment used for skin rejuvenation, but also in other areas. The method, colloquially referred to as vampire lifting on a facial, allows you to look fresher and younger in a biological way. The plasma is extracted from the own blood, processed and injected again for the purpose of therapy. The effect is achieved by growth factors released from our platelets.

What can I do with PRP?
PRP is used today in many areas. Although the main treatment areas are face, neck, décolletage and scalp, almost every aging tissue and area can be regenerated.
